The business wants to upgrade a system to a new version. As part the system upgrade process we asked the system administrator to assess vendor’s release notes. Does any of you have guidance on how to document this assessment (e.g. printing the release notes and making hand written notes on the document to include or exclude new features or bug corrections; if a reference is possible for each release notes item than make a separate document for the assessment)? What would be the ideal way to document it and provide evidence that it was done? This will then become a tool to help define the validation strategy (Change Control or Full validation, extent of testing and regression testing).
